Description

Sustainability of local fisheries is indicative of healthy fishing communities, marine populations, and the ecosystems upon which they depend. Maintaining working harbors and sustainability of California's commercial spiny lobster and other reef fisheries requires partnerships among stakeholders and the development of new management ideas through adaptive research and learning. Through cooperation we can expand our knowledge of marine populations, habitat-fishermen-species relationships, social systems, and develop innovative ways to manage within an ecosystem context.
